This is on a Ubuntu edgy knot3 release system. I have noticed that Orca is a bit unresponsive but that's to do with flight= issues not orca itself, some applications freeze the speech and I have to = restart to get it back, for example: The synaptic utility. Don't be to excited about orca, there's a long way to go, don't get me wron= g its a huge giant step sinse Gnopernicus but its nothing like speakup or a= nything on windows. On 9/20/2006 at 22:53 Guy Schlosser said Hey there Scott, not sure where to get Viavoice for Linux currently, but=20 I do know that there is an awesome utility that connects it with=20 Speakup, if we can get our hands on an installable package for viavoice. = =20 As far as speakup's abilities, it is a console (command line) screen=20 reader, but there is Orca that works with the Gnome desktop under=20 X-Windows. I'm trying now to get my Gnome updated, because I'm=20 impatient, want to play with Orca and don't want to wait another month=20 for Fedora Core 6. At any rate, I hope that helps and good luck with=20 Linux. Guy On Sun, Sep 17, 2006 at 10:02:06AM -0400, Scott Ford wrote: > Hello yall, > =09I have used Linux over the years on and off.
