Yes, have someone send you a boot disk with speakup compiled into it.
I am getting ready to do some kernal hacking myself so if you want I can
make you one.
What partition and drive is your
Red Hat located in.
I am about to compile a2.2.17 kernal, and I believe 6.2 uses a 2.2.14, but
it would be slightly newer than the one you have.
Another option is to grab the install.img for your synth, and rawrite an
image of the rescue.img.
AT the boot prompt you can type rescue, and the Red Hat 6.2 disks should
boot into rescue mode.
