OK; wow! Then that is very very understandable. NetWare 3.11 certainly is
way out of date, and an upgrade is not worthwhile for a small organizational
network. Linux is thus your best choice, and you're receiving excellent
advice from others. I'd recommend using a real hardware solution for the
firewall if at all possible, but setting up Samba for sharing and something
for mail, etc on the Linux box. While Linux is very very capable as a
firewall in as far as its flexibility, I don't like to see critical network
infrastructure running on a box that performs a number of other functions.
There's just too much room for a complete disaster.
