Or you could just get the speakup-modified kernel RPM from either 
speakupmodified.org or ftp.rednote.net. Alls you have to do with that is:
rpm kernel{tab}
or you might have to specify "--old" or something, can't remember, look at 
the man page for rpm, and search for "old".
