If you use the grml live-cd just enter speakup's kernel cheatcodes at the bootprompt: grml speakup_synth=dectlk This should activate the speakup kernel module for the dectalk synth. BTW: If you do not have a hardware synthesizer you can try booting with the new swspeak option: grml swspeak This prepares the system for use with software synthesizer through speakup. Just run 'speechd-up' after booting up to activate sound output then. A list of all available cheatcodes is available online as well: http://grml.org/files/release-0.6/grml-cheatcodes.txt HTH && regards, -mika- -- ,'"`. http://www.michael-prokop.at/ ( grml.org -» Linux Live-CD for texttool-users and sysadmins `._,' http://www.grml.org/ _______________________________________________ Speakup mailing list Speakup@braille.uwo.ca http://speech.braille.uwo.ca/mailman/listinfo/speakup __________ NOD32 1.1381 (20060126) Information __________ This message was checked by NOD32 antivirus system. http://www.eset.com
