Please don't take my remarks personally. It's clear to me you were
attempting to be thorough.

In fact, I also appreciate your willingness to jump in and give advice
when you were sure you could say something appropriate. Please keep up
both things--asking when you need something, and offering when you have
something to give.

If my remarks offended you, I am sorry. I do appreciate your being here.

PS: I'm not a "sir," but you don't need to say "ma'am," either. No need
