Speaking of the apollo2 synth, is it possible to change languages from within speakup so you can have text spoken in Greek for example if it is included with the synthesizer's rom? Will speakup allow extended ascii characters to pass on to the apollo? Thanks. Also which version of speakup specifically are you using? Is it from a distribution disk set or the 1.5 tarball or cvs? There is a slight possibility that a very slow computer could cause the affect you are seeing. Also if you have patched speakup into a kernel yourself and really new kernel with the 1000 jiffiespersecond instead of the 100 could cause behaviour which looks like your symptoms.
