If it is a serial external modem usually wvdialconf will pnp detect it, and if it is an internal hardware modem wvdialconf will detect it. If it is a usb modem you will need to have usb modem support and usb serial support. Don't know if wvdialconf can pick that up. I imagine it could if kudzu properly detected it, and set it up in /etc/modules.conf. If it is a win modem the modem is probably not able to be used. Need more info on the modem. snip. If I need to install drivers for that modem, how can I do it if I don't know what type of modem it is? I hope it is possible. Well, we need to know some basics like if it is a hardware modem or a Win modem chip set which needs a special driver. Also what type of connection serial or usb. If it is internal pci or isa.
