I will be booting with a debian CD-Rom, in orderto tar up my = Gentoo-environment. Now: Here is the issue. I wish to tar it directly to a remote computer, via an ssh-incripted = session. I am attempting here to tar the entire slash, file system. And force that tarball to end up somewhere else. The file will be probably over 4 gigs, unless it can be compressed. Any suggestions on the best tar-compression, and what exactly is the = command-syntax needed to have my goal met? Thanks a lot all.
