Hi all. Perhaps I must make my position clear here. First, I have but one
and only one machine, and if I were to install Linux, I'll have to share it
with an already installed Microsoft windows box. Second, my dectalk express
hardware is installed and connected to com port 1, or ser 0 in the Linux
equivalent, and since I'm not yet a linux expert like most of you on this
list, I of course had to highlight my problem in a language that I can
understand in the hope that those of you linux experts who've had experience
with the Microsoft Windows environment can help me with my problem. I am
aware that this is a linux list, and I am aware that I am not a Linux freak
by any stretch of the emagination. But I am willing to learn a totally new
environment to widen my knowledge in computers, and comments like these, far
from helping, will surely turn me off and away from the linux OS that I was
so keen to learn. If i didn't have a problem, If my desire to install linux
went as smooth as some of you had encountered, I won't be struggling and
asking these questions that I deem to be so important to get myself up and
running. I have spent countless hours downloading the various linux
distros, trying my darndest to get them installed, all to no avail. But i
figure it will be comments like these that will turn me away, and not the
installation struggles that I've had to go through. So I'll get off this
list and stick to what I know and be all the happier for it. Cheers!
