I was lead to believe that the 64 bit amd install did not have speakup,
so my wife was poised to take over until I got ssh going. When the boot
prompt came I entered gentoo speakup_synth=dectalk in case, and the
dec-talk came to life. This is the install CD from their torrents. It is
nice that we are becoming part of the main stream.
