As for FreeBSD you'll need to modify the boot floppy in /boot/loader.conf I believe it is to enable serial support for the install. The FreeBSD topic for install is OT for this list so if you'd like to hit me privately about this feel free. Subject: installing via serial Hello list, I'd like to be able to do a self-install of debian, and other OS's as well. Is there a way that I can make any of the following use a serial install? I can get SecureCRT and get me a null-modem cable and a pci-serial card, and run the install through SecureCRT--and it might be better than buying an external synth: slack, gentu, debian, mandrake, fedora also bsd would be fun to play with--if I had serial, I wouldn't have to rely on ssh as well.
