You should be able to send a message to blinux-newbie-request@braille.uwo.ca with the word subscribe in the message body. I think the subject line is alright as well. The list will send a message of confirmation back to you which you will need to reply to. Usually you can just hit 'r' or whatever your mailer uses for replay and the confirmation number will be included in the subject line. good luck.
