Hi Petra: I am afraid I don't know the initialization directory
structure of Redhat very well. Well, not at all actually. There will
be a place in the boot sequence where loadkeys is clled to load the
keymap you want. I will warn you though that you will lose your
speakup review functions if you just arbitrarily load the Swiss German
keymap. I think I have a diff file someplace which you can apply to
any non-us keymap to put the speakup keys in. If you write me off
list I'll try to find it and send it to you.
