Hi all.

Sorry for coming with a problem that has doubtless been
presented umpteen times before, but I'm having problems with
my talking DOS terminal to Linux. It works perfectly through
the installation, and shuts right up when I reboot. I found
that the line in /etc/inittab wasn't there after the
installation so I put it back in but it still doesn't talk.
I'm installing Slackware 3.1 on a Toshiba 430 Laptop.

Thanks in advance.

Ben.

Did you uncomment the line in /etc/rc.d/rc.s that calles the script
rc.serial? Also did you uncomment the lines that set up your serial
ports? This is discussed in great detail in the installation howto that
comes with that distribution.

I am a Slackware user myself so if you need more help you can write to me.

Just a thought: The /etc/inittab you modify early in the installation
is in the ramdisk. You should check the permanent one
(/mnt/etc/inittab, I believe) before rebooting.
