Hey Mark, may I borrow that time machine? I'd like to revisit my
vacation to San Diego and SF back in March.

Emacs has Bookshare support but I haven't tested it yet. I'll do so and
get back to you.

That depends on what you mean by bookshare material.
I have regularly used l Lynx to access download and unzip my bookshare
titles, here at shellworld.
we are presently Ubuntu 1604 at least as a shell for the service.
*however* I read daisy text, I am not getting audio, and that might be
what you are needing.
Works for me, which does not mean it works for others in the same
fashion.
Karen

Hmm, that's odd. I dunno how that happened. Error should be corrected now.

My wife has a bookshare account, and I know they don't have a linux reader redily available, so I was just wondering how folks accessed bookshere when
using linux. Alicia still 8uses windows, but that won't help me here.

I use lynx. I download the Daisy Text Only version. Then I use liblouisutdml to translate it into the line length and
page length that I want, with the table I want, which is usually the default. I use Debian at the command line. There
are packages for liblouis and liblouisutdml

You can access BpookShare.org books using pretty much any browser,
including Firefox or Lynx, for that matter.

The downloaded books are simple zip files. Use the unzip command. You
might want to create a directory for them first, and copy the .zip into
that directory, then cd to it before running unzip.

Then, create a symlink to the .xml file along
the lines of:

ln -s [title].xml [title].html

Now use your favorite browser on the html target.

bookshare support.
