Ok, I thought I had tried this with other books in the past, but I wanted to be
sure. I just went to the site and tried to download "american Notes" by charles
Dickens. Clearly said "public domain. Got the same errors as with "story of my
life".
If anybody does find the HTTP-Refer line in the lynx.cfg file, or a variant
thereof, please let us know. I'm not claiming it doesn't exist, just that i
haven't found it. I could be overlooking something.

The two REFERER statements are definitely in lynx.cfg, and they are definitely set "TRUE" by default.
Not sure where each distro puts lynx.cfg, but a locate lynx.cfg' should find each and every one. Under Red Hat I see
them in /usr/local/lib. I've also seen it in /etc. And, of course, you can have a lynx.cfg in your $HOME directory,
which would take precedence.
Load the file into your favorite text editor and search for:
no_refer
This should take you right to it. You will need to arrow down past all the comments that explain what this setting does
to the actual setting statement. That actual statement is:
NO_REFERER_HEADER:TRUE
Notice this is all in capital letters. Change the TRUE to FALSE.
The next one, NO_FILE_REFERER is the very next section down.

Ann:
My best understanding is that lynx must work with the site. I believe I'm correct in my understanding that it is far and
away the most used broser among those of us using linux, with W3M probably second because of the support for W3M in
emacspeak. Furthermore, I doubt anyone is going to write a browser specifically for BookShare. So, I don't see how
support for lynx can be avoided if BookShare is to support users on linux.

Ok, I don't see that anybody needs to appologize to me for anything; it's all in
the discussions of a list.
However, I need that note on how to configure lynx now; as I said, I've tried
TRUE and FASLE on both the NO_REFERER lines with no improvement on results.
