Ooopps. John, I think you asked about a linux quick reference, and I
mistakenly sent you emacspeak advice. Sorry.
The best quick reference I know for linux --
1.) National Braille Press has published a quick reference card in
braille;
2.) There's a HOWTO for DOS/Windows users which is very readable and
provides many of the commands one needs early on. I'm sorry I don't have
the exact url just now.

How expensive is the nbp one? The trouble with rfb material is the
inability to keep it forever. Is there any service like rfb that offers
books on tape like this to buy to keep forever? Granted, if one's in to
audio editing and the like, a four track can be copied to the PC, but
technically it's not legal in most cases, but there's no form to buy in
that's accessible.

In Canada last time I checked producing things in an alternate format (in
thsi case fourtrack tape or digital audio) is not illegal and you don't need
permission form the publisher. It USED to be illegal but they changed the
laws a couple fo years ago or something like that I don't have the dates
right here.

Well, I'm saying it's illegal for me to dub the tapes for me to keep to use
for reference, although it's easy to do. I'm not sure how different the
states are on that.

Etexts, what format are they distributed in, and are they available for all
the tapes they have?

Hi,
They are simple .txt files of the book in question. right now, they
don't have all the books in e text though. you have to check out their
website whether the book you need is available as an e text.
