Hello,
I've just been looking at the Redhat site. They make a lot of the GUI in
Redhat 7.2. It uses Gnome 1.4. I assume the GUI is inaccessible for now. Can
it do anything that you can't do in console mode? Is the Mozilla browser
usable in console mode?
I will have to start my installation with a floppy, since I can't boot from
my cd-rom. Does the disk set that Redhat sells for $60 include an
installation boot floppy? Can I add brltty to that floppy so I can have
Braille output as soon as possible?

The BRLTTY manual might be lacking behind I'm afraid. Once you can get inside the archive, you'll find all the instructions on how to create BRLTTY enabled installation bootdisks in the /bootdisks subdirectory. You should then be able to boot with the floppy and go on with the installation using the CD afterwards. I think Dave Mielke (the current BRLTTY maintainer) had plans about putting BRLTTY enabled floppy images on his website. Unless you have some use for the paper documentation that comes with the boxed sets, or want phone support (they would probably want to walk you through using some GUI configuration tools), you could do just as well with the cheap CD's sold by other vendors like cheapbytes.com (see the blinux FAQ for details, including how to get online documentation). If you have a fast connection and a CD writer, you can even download the ISO CD images for free. -- L. C. You mention braille. Well and good. You will not install using braille, because you will not have brltty running, at least not with the installation disks you get from Redhat. You may need to get a sound card working so that SpeakFreely will work but we do use text chat too on the reflector, thus you'd be able to participate. I have brltty installed and when my sound card decided to give up, well it was my newly compiled kernel, I could still use my Braille display. At least redhat automates a lot of the task, not sure where major and minor numbers are derived from for devices to pass to the module parameters. I never did get some of the scientific calculations howtos talk about, as they don't explain them, especially the ramdisk word for bootdisks.
