Hi All,
I remember some recent postings about getting a braillelite to work with
brltty, but I'm not sure what model was being discussed. I've just tried to
use my new BL M20 with brltty, and it only partially works. Has any work been
done to get the braillelite driver to work with the M20? What would I need to
do to convert it if it hasn't already been done?
Also when setting up the serial parameters for the BL, I presumably need to
change from the default half duplex to full. What about handshaking? I was
impressed to see that the cursor routing buttons on the BL do actually route
the system cursor. This made me wonder whether its actually possible to use
the BL for input as well as output. This wasn't clear from the documentation
I've found so far.
Any help gratefully received.

Tim,
I started most of the recent threads about the Braille Lite. I have a
Braille Lite 40. What sorts of problems are you having with your M20?
Maybe BRLTTY can be told that it's a BLT18, and then it will work fine.
To use it with a computer, all you have to do is turn speech box mode,
or whatever it is called now, on. That should set the serial port and
anything else to what is needed.

No, since we've never had access to one. Assuming that it's similar to
supported models of the BrailleLite, it may at least partially work.

Are you asking what you'd need to do if you yourself figure out how to make the
code work with the M20, or are you asking what'd need to be done in order to
help us make it work?

Yes.

Hardware flow control.

Yes, you can type input on the BrailleLite.

Dave,
I was really wondering which bit of the code I'd need to hack to make it work.
I've now found the bit that sets things up for 18/40 character displays. I
thought I'd have a go at changing this to 20, to see what happens. If the
result looks like a patch you could incorporate, I can certainly mail it in
your direction.
Regards,
Tim Pennick

Absolutely. Just try to keep the rest of the autodetect code in tact (which I'm
sure you will). Thanks.
