Hi Blinuxers,
there is an interesting virtual touch device available. This device lets
you virtually touch objects which are in the range. This device could be
an interesting tool to let users touch graphical user interfaces with
their hands. It works through electric motors which generate physical
resistance as soon as you reach a surface.
Using an interface library (check out http://ds.dial.pipex.com/shallow/ )
it could be possible to implement this device under Linux. At the moment
they seem to do developement under NT. But with source code available,
it should be much easier done under Linux.
Sorry to say that the site presenting the "virtual touch" device
http://www.aec.at doesn't offer a single email address or a web link to
the developers. (typical European
mistreatment of web space :) This site belongs to the Ars Electronica in
Linz/Austria.
The only contact address I could find is <info@aec.at>.
Enjoy!
Hans
