Looking at my mail.log I found the following.
Mar 14 03:00:09 halsey sendmail[101]: My unqualified host name (halsey) unknown; sleeping for retry
Mar 14 03:01:10 halsey sendmail[101]: unable to qualify my own domain name (halsey) -- using short name
Mar 14 03:01:10 halsey sendmail[106]: starting daemon (8.8.5): SMTP+queueing@00:30:00
Mar 14 03:01:10 halsey sendmail[109]: CAA00134: to=root, delay=00:20:10, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=nullclient, relay=concentric.net, stat=Deferred: Name server: concentric.net: host name lookup failure
Mar 14 03:01:11 halsey sendmail[109]: AAA00173: to=root, delay=02:20:10, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=nullclient, relay=concentric.net, stat=Deferred: Name server: concentric.net: host name lookup failure
Mar 14 03:01:11 halsey sendmail[109]: AAA00157: to=root, delay=02:40:10, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=nullclient, relay=concentric.net, stat=Deferred: Name server: concentric.net: host name lookup failure
It looks like my host name is not working or something.
I hope this helps.
Confusing!!!

Hello Martin,
Your sendmail is not configured correctly. You have to rebuild your
/etc/sendmail.cf with /usr/sbin/sendmailconfig (of course, you may also
tweak /etc/sendmail.cf by hand, but I would start from scratch with a new
configuration).
You can choose the "null client" configuration, but you have to be sure to
correctly specify your smart relay host (check your Concentric
configuration data, or, if you do not have it at hand, the Eudora
configuration).
Check also your /etc/resolv.conf to ensure it points to the right
nameservers.
By the way, does your sendmail daemon start at boot time? If so, it might
be necessary to further tweak sendmail.mc by hand, in order to avoid
unresolved DNS queries.

I would only think that something'd have to be set up to dial into
concentric and log that in to get on the net anyway.
