We use netscape here without any problems. Do you have an appropriate entry for a name server in your /etc/resolv.conf config file? There should be an entry (line) in there something like the following: nameserver 192.168.46.1 You must get a valid IP number from your ISP (internet service provider). They should be running your dns (domain name server) server for you. I have the "named" daemon turned off on my machine. Also make sure you have a valid /etc/hosts file, for local stuff, frequently used sites, etc. On Thu, 25 Jun 1998, David Robinson wrote: > Hello all, I'm having problems getting netscape to work under xwindows. > I'm able to run netscape but I get an error when it tries to connect to > www.home.netscape.com. Robinson reply to infynity@cyberhighway.net (a family account) People buy MicroShaft for compatibility, but get incompatibility and instability instead: then they get to buy upgrades to fix it, and get still more problems. This is award winning "innovation".
