Adapt-it begins Monday Sept. 23. There is still time to register!
Technology now makes it simpler to include students with physical disabilities
into school and college. EASI(Equal Access to Software and Information)
provides an online workshop for faculty and staff who need to know how to
provide adaptation to educational technology. A general workshop, Adapt-it,
begins Sept. 23.
ADAPT-IT is a three-week course providing an overview to the topic of
adaptive computing and is ideal for administrators, teachers,
librarians, computer support staff, ADA compliance officers and
service providers. It focuses on how to set up computing technology
and services for individuals with disabilities. Taught by people who
have consulted extensively on adaptive technology and information
access. Adapt-it is scheduled for september 23 Dec. 2 and also in the
winter and spring of 1997. Registration is $125. For more information
email to Norman Coombs nrcgsh@rit.edu
You can also get further information (including an article describing a
previous workshop) on the web at:

EASI-SEm provides current information on making science, math and
engineering more accessible to persons with disabilities. The workshop
discusses the unique barriers to SEM disciplines and also describes
both simple access solutions and new technologies for accessing math
and tactile graphics. The course development was funded by a National
Science Foundation grant and includes videotapes and manuals developed
for the project. The course facilitator is Carmela Cunningham, This
three-week course will begin on September 30. Other workshops will be
offered during the academic year 1996-97. The registration is $95 for
the course plus $75 for the three videotapes. For more information or
to register, send e-mail to: Carmela Cunningham or phone (714)
