FWIW the Windows version of Skype is reasonably compatible with the Windows screen readers. Perhaps the current accessibility problems are not insurmountable?

that's comparing apple's and oranges.
KDE is something different then windows :)
besides it's closed source so we can't even see if it's possibel to add
some accessibility stuff in it which might work with kde-accessibility (if
that's working anyway) or even rewrite the GUI to gtk2

besides, maybe it's spyware as well (like kazaa is) it's based on the same
fasttrack-protocols you know.

Which just serves as evidence of how frequently the issue comes up.

Get your voip service provider to tell you what ports they need, then
just forward those. You shouldn't have to guess at this. This is a
question they probably answer frequently.

first of all, NAT-triversal depends greatly on which VoIP protocol you are
using.
Astiersk' native IAX2 does veryw ell in this case, SIP will probably work
too.

It also depends on the otehr site (the VoIP provider).

http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk general docs

config-stuff for www.freeworlddialup.com

Don't be too overwelmed as Asterisk can do too much for what you need :)
look at exten.conf and trhough everything out you don't need.

only thing you need is probably a line saying dial, console (and the
appropriate alsao ro oss config)
and lines to dialout to yoru VoIP-provider (and vociemail if you are
feeling up to it :) ).

Yes, thats right. I decided, to use asterisk, it seems that this is
exactly what I need. I tryed linphone before, but without success
because the programm had problems with my firewall setup. The
configuration of asterisk is really a big torture, I'm searching arround
the internet and through the docu since friday :-(. Now I subscribed to
the asterisk-users mailinglist, but if anybody here can give my some
hints how to get asterisk to work just for ip telephony (getting calls
from the internet to my pc behind a nat firewall and vice versa), I

There's quite a few blind people using Asterisk. I'd suggest you hang
in there with it and get hooked up with other users of the program. You
are right though, it's complicated.

Hi!

There is command-line based h.323 and sip client in opal package, see
called simpleopal. see
http://www.voxgratia.org

You need both pwlib and openyh323 in addtion to opal. Simpleopal
should be compiled separately in opal/samples directory.

Beware however this package is real nigthmare to set up. Fread FAQ in
Voxgratia site carefully.

I'm searching for a accessible voice over ip software, that runs on
linux and contains a softphone with support for SIP.

I allready tryed linphone and asterisk. linphone doesn't work somehow
and asterisk's configuration causes only pine, no good docu and simply

I'm sure, that someone here allready uses VoIP, but witch software are
