I want to know the details of screan reader. Is there any text to speech
program running behind it? If yes, is it obtained from the free
distribution?

if your talking about screader its based on the screen package but future
versions may be independent of screen.

Hello,
If you mean screader. Screader make use of a text to speech program.
You can use your favourite program with screader. (Commercial or free,
it is up to you)
