emacspeak has limits on what it will work with based on the emacs
construction since emacspeak runs as an application on top of the emacs
system.  There are applications once installed properly that can fill in
for other text-based linux applications.  Send email to
emacspeak-request@cs.vassar.edu and ask if you're subscribed, it's a human
at that address so you'll get an answer back.
