First of all, just because you have no man page doesn't necessarily mean
you don't have the package. I have no man page for Lrzsz (note the
capital) but then had the brilliant idea of trying under the various
commands "sb" for instance, or rb, etc. There are entries for these
commands in both man pages and info if you have a package that gives you
these usages.
So far, I haven't gotten this to work, and since the description says this
is to work over a dial-in serial port I am wondering if it will work.
I am also wondering if you really want the "s" chord with the braillelite,
which is storage, to which I get "storage device missing" or if you want
the"tT" chord for transmit. the results for this are different if you do
this on an open file vs. just at the files command; if you do it at the
files command, you choose to send or receive, then which modem protocol,
then you are told wwhether the file you are currently at is marked or not.
As I say, I haven't gotten it to work yet anyway, but I am thinking that
without pcdisk the "t" chord may be the one that will work instead of the
"s" chord.

Yes,
The "t chord" in the "file " menu is the one you want, assuming you don't
have the Blazie disk drive. You probably have the "sb" and "rb" commands
in your Linux setup. If you prefer to use a terminal package on the Linux
end, try using Minicomm. Cheryl, The "sb" command should work on any
serial connection, be it to a modem or to a device like the Braille Lite.

Thanks, Dave.
Actually I've tried it with the sb and related commands and with minicom.
Obviously, I'm leaving something out or doing things in the wrong order,
or maybe there's a setting on the braillelite that has to be changed. The
braillelite gets to the point where it says "start the transfer" and "sb"
if I'm trying to send seems to work, but then the braillelite says "error
transferring abort" or something close to that. I know this is doable and
I'm just missing something really obvious, so guess I'll take it up again
tomorrow.

Disclaimer: I have never used a braille light, and know very little about
it. However, if it has a terminal program, this should be workable.
1. Connect the braillelite to the main computer, using an RS232 null
modem cable (I'm guessing you have already done this). Let us assume that
you have it connected to ttyS1.
2. Make certain that nothing is running on ttyS1, except for a single
getty, or agetty, or getty-like program.
3. Start the braillelite's terminal program, and log into your Linux box.
4. Change directories as necessary, and perform your sb or rb under
Linux, and then start the inverse on the braille lite.
If things work the way they should, that will do the trick.
