hELLO!
I have a very large problem with the zipslack distribution.
I can't get brltty to work.
I have tried on anothercomputer to link it statically with suse linux 7.0.
Then i placed the brltty file in the sbin directory.
but i can't get it to work.
I wonder if the linking is not corect made.
Can someone link the brltty package for me and send it to me?
i'musing an abt340 braille display on dev/ttys0.
i'm using the swedish translation table.
i also need help with 2 installation bootdisks for suse-linux 7.0 and
slackware.
Thanks

Kristofer,
What version of brltty are you using? I recently got brltty working
perfectly. I had been having troiuble that was ultimately traced to brltty
being run twice. I don't remember seeing your braille display in the list
of supported displays. Brltty does work with the brlspeak
minidistribution, which is a version of slackware. What kind of problems
do you have compiling brltty on the machine you want to use it on? How are
you starting brltty? My problems were due to starting it at the wrong
place in the boot-up sequence.

Hello!
I have brltty version 2.98.
i know that my display is supported because i can use it on my other
machine.
i have compiled it to only an executable file, but it doesn't start under
the zipslack.
you may wonder why i don't use brlspeak.
I have only a modem, and the file is very large.
and there is not a splitted version on the file as on the zipslack or
zipspeak download page.

Actually, zipslack is in some ways a better choice than brlspeak if you
are using zipslack-8.0, as brlspeak, at least when I used it for a while,
was based on zipspeak-7.0 and much older. I'm not sure why there is no
current version of zipspeak or brlspeak. However, I also used zipslack as
a backup on my DOS hard drive for a while, and it worked fine with brltty
installed. I'm not sure I understand why you didn't just do a full
compile; zipslack should support that. I actually didn't have to compile
it; it was on the same machine as my debian system, so I just mounted the
dos hard-drive with zipslack on it, as umsdos not as dos very important,
and typed install-brltty /mnt/linux. Then I went in and started it up
manually by typing "brltty" after logging in as root, and put the code in
the right place to start it up at boot, per the brltty manual. I am coming
in late on this discussion, but will be glad to help you further if we can
narrow down what your problem is.
