Hi.
I have troble with my sound cards in gnome.
I can select one, but when I select that the sound doesn't come from
that card but a card that is not selected. the built in audio.
I've got an usb mixer, and a creative audigy card.
I try to select them. the same thing. just the built in realtek chip.
what can this be?
/Kristoffer

Hi,
Where do you try to select the sound card? In gnome-control-center -> Sound?
If so, try Pulseaudio Volume Control (pavucontrol), or vise versa - if that's what you're using til now, try gnome-control-center -> Sound.

The below advice assumes pulseaudio is being used. There are some of us,
not just AT users but also professional musicians and audio
professionals, who prefer to avoid pulseaudio.

And therein hangs the tale. The answer isn't necessarily obvious.
However, the first question is obvious: Who's in charge? pulseaudio?
alsa? Or, still possibly, though not as likely, oss?

Hi.
I forgot that I'm using mate, not gnome.
in earlier versions of debian I could select the sound device I wanted
and it worked.
I don't want pulse audio, so I disabled it.
now I can't hear nothing at all.
alsa works just fine in the terminal, but not in mate.
/Kristoffer
