I need to install a quick, simple command line IRC client.
I know about ircii. Are there any others out there with a
loyal following?

Thank you.

Rudy

Try centericq. It supports irc as well as icq, msn, aim and yahoo.

I'm not sure about a "loyal following" but there are several good
commandline IRC clients. I have tried sirc in the past and foudn that it was
good. There is also Epic4 which is very similar to IRCII but has some
differences. There's also tirc, tinyirc, and a few others. All of those come
with Debian but if you don't use Debian you coudl probably fidn them on
freshmeat or just do a search with your favourite search engine and they
should turn up there.

You can get the latest 4.8.3 from www.centericq.de. If you use Debian you
can also get the unstable release cvs snapshot which is updated every night.
This is what I usually do. So far centericq is pretty good in my book.

Hi,
I use a perl based irc client called sirc.
if you're running debian, just do apt-get install sirc however failing
that, doa search on google for it.

And to round this one up,
I use erc, a Emacs based irc client which
also can interact with Emacspeak and read you
all the traffic automagically.

If you use debian, apt-get install erc should be enough.
Read commentary in /usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/erc/erc-speak.el to
get erc-speak started.
