I wasn't aware that OCR was a new builtin. I checked out the ClaraOCR and it doesn't sound like what I was wanting. I'll see if I can learn something about the OCR in emacspeak. I'll download the vividata OCR shop and give it a try also. Was hesitant to do so, because someone told me that if you download the demo, then purchase it you didn't get the full set of features but kept some of the demo restrictions.
