I know a lot of these type of devices with internal batteries will not function on AC power if the battery is completely shot, Speakouts do, and I know Braille 'n Speaks won't function without a functional battery. Someone had this dectalk around, as I needed the cable for it as mine was broke, but they had the whole thing and said the rest didn't work. I could use a second one if I can get a replacement battery, or have it repaired cheaply.
