Hi!
I have started to download the cd image files for the Redhat distribution of
Linux with Speakup.
Maybe I am best downloading one of these files at a time as I am not sure
how much space I have left on my hard drive.
At some point I am going to have to buy a CD Writer.
Once I have downloaded these image files for the CD ROMS meaning all the
files with the .iso extention, do I need anything else if I were to burn
these files onto CD assuming I can install a CD writer on my desktop PC
which I bought from Sight and Sound Technology?

Hi, Michael:
I've just sent you a copy of the Speakup Modified Red Hat
Distribution HOWTO_INSTALL document. I'm aware that it now
exceeds the length permitted on this list, so I'm providing the
direct URL below for anyone else who might want to read our
document:
http://www.linux-speakup.org/ftp/disks/redhat/HOWTO_INSTALL.html
We are continuing to revise this document in order to better
reflect several new circumstances and opportunities arising out
of the recent new release from Red Hat, namely version 7.3,
Valhalla. Some of the news is good--such as the Speakup keymap
files being incorporated into the standard Red Hat console tools.
Some of the news isn't so good, such as the cursoring problem
which appears to come from the new newt library.
We are of course working on all of these fronts--to resolve the
issues fully, and to document all opportunities thoroughly. You
should expect this document to become stable again in about a
week.
We cordially invite anyone considering Linux for the first time
to read this document. We take pains to provide guidance and
links to further reading for the new and prospective Linux user
who is blind.

is it possible to download this file rather than view it on line,
as I've only got a dialup up connection I don't have the time to spend on
line going through a document of this size. and was wondering if it would
be possible to have it on my pc to view it off line.
thanks

Absolutely, It's always possible to do that, though I think it's
easier to accomplish this with lynx than with the Windows'
browsers.
I'll send you a copy directly momentarily as an attachment. Just
save it and use your browser to read it on your hard disk. All
the links will still work when you're on line.
PS: If you're using Windows, you can probably just go to this
document in My Computer or in My Documents and it will be
automatically opened by your default browser.

thanks alot that will be great
I'm not in a great hurry for it so if you just wanted to leave it till you
had more time that would be fine.
thanks heaps.
