Hello,
I have a Plextor Plexwriter CD drive. Where can I find a Linux program
that I can use to burn CD's with it? How about just source code for
drivers? Please try to give URL's where these things can be downloaded.
Thanks.
John

John:
You've probably already installed cdrecord as part of your Redhat
installation. That should take care of you very nicely. If, however, this
is an ide drive, you'll need to use the ide to scsi emmulator which you
can do by adding it in an append statement to your kernel in lilo.conf
like this:
append = "/dev/hdc=ide-scsi"
cdrecord will burn a cd rom for you. But, you will also need to use
mkisofs to create the iso image that cdrecord will use. This, too, is
already installed, I would expect. Try the man pages for each of these.

Is there any easy way to make audio disks in disk at once mode? I don't
know the exact lengths of every song I have on my system, so the control
files would be hard to make.

I believe disk at once is supported in cdrecord. Did you read the man
page?

I read the cCD writing howto, but you have to put all your audio in a
single .wav file, and use config files to control it, but how do you
generate them without knowing the time info?

your distribution should hodl the following programs or a subset of them:
mkisofs or mkhybrid for making disk-images
cdrecord or cdwrite to burn them
cdrdao to burn audio-disks
If it is a scsi-drive you need scsi-cdrom support in yoru kernel, if it is
a ide-drive you have automagical support for it, but check your
kernel-documentation or the cd-writing-howto from
http://metalab.unc.edu/LDP/HOWTOS/ for more details about burning under
linux.

Hello,
I have my Windows partition mounted. Can I use mkisofs and cdrecord to
burn a CD of a directory in that partition that can be read on a Windows
or DOS machine. I'd much rather do it in Linux than hassle with the
Windows GUI.
Thanks.

Absolutely. ISO isn't platform specific, and it includes support for DOS'
8+3 naming.
