"screen not in text mode
Messages abound.
/etc/brlapi.key is owned by root
In order to fix that, one has to get into the console with control+alt+f2
The default username is
ubuntu-mate
and the password is blank
once you are in the console
sudo chown ubuntu-mate:ubuntu-mate /etc/brlapi.key
Alt+left arrow back to the desktop and you will have braille.
