hi,
does anyone know of any console screenreader which is compatible of
festival-lite?

I need it for a space-limited system so emacspeak probably is too big for
it.

Hi,
I am using speakup with flite through speech-dispatcher and speechdup. I
think it should work on a system as you described.

Yes, but would that be a problem in your situation?
What distribution are you using on that system?
Would you be able to compile a kernel for the machine
You can also use yasr with flite which do not need a kernel patch, but I
found that setup to be a bit unstable.
Yasr is also small enough for what you want.

afaik yasr only seam to support emacsspeak and not flite directly if I'm
wrong about this, it could be a good wokraround.

Eventually I'll be trying out GPE (gnope pcoket edition) with gnopernicus.

Out of curiosity, what sort of PDA are you setting up?

It does need a server such as eflite to work with Festival Lite. (My
eflite binary is about 28k when linked against the flite shared libraries,
so I presume its size would be somewhat similar on the arm.)

shapr zaurus sl-c860 first, sl-5500 maybe
I also will try a toshiba E740 as soon as I know that GEP will work with
gnopernicus.
