Hello,

You may want to consider the more modern Triple talk usb. It can also go searil
as well with its two ports. It ahs a battery also. It is more compact as well. I
will sell you a new one for only 295. Let me know.

As far as I remember, the Triple-Talk producer did not want people
to write Open Source drivers for that. That is what I found out
some years ago on this list. If that hasn't changed, I really dont want
to support people like that.

Nobody wants to support or promote a product that requires people to
sign an mda for the release of source and specs.
for this reason, the trippletalk hasn't been included yet as a supported
synth for speakup. it's one of those ones we'll have to, if you'll
endulge me for a second, "feel our way with."
I am no coder by any stretch of the imagination but I would suspect that
working out command sets and what to put where would be a pain in the
ass even with the specs.
I don't wanna sound like I'm putting on the poor little me act but we
have it hard enough without people putting obsticles that really don't
need to be, in our way.
that's my $0.2 worth.

I have not found the TripleTalk to be a Linux friendly device. First
off, the RS232C implementation is apparently lacking. Secondly, the
manufacturer doen't want to release his specs so that we can build
drivers under GPL.

Not very friendly, if you ask me. Not that anyone asked.

When did you write the Linux drivers for this synth? If it won't work
in Linux then it isn't worth $0.1!

I wrote the Linux driver for the DoubleTalk PC. When the TripleTalk
came out, I wrote them volunteering to write a drive for it. I never
got a reply.

Incidentally, I just finished returning a U.S. Robotics USB modem
because it turned out to be a Winmodem - that is, it only works in
conjunction with software running on the host, and U.S. Robotics only
supplies a Windows version of the software. The U.S. Robotics
technical support lady told me that all their USB modems are
Winmodems. The TripleTalk may work the same way.
