I think there is a linux version of Jabber. So many search for Jabber.

Subject: msn messenger with linux?
Is there a client we can use for the msn messaging system? A friend of
mine who
uses Windows says she has a friend who is also blind and uses msn's
messaging
system with
linux to text chat with her. But all the programs i've found depend on
the gui.
Thanks.
Cheryl

Try Centericq. It works with MSN, AIM, Yahoo, ICQ IRC and Jabber. I am
currently using it with very few problems.

Hi Cheryl
I use centericq.
It supports all the most popular IM client: ICQ, Jabber, Yahoo, Aim and MSN.
I do not know which Linux distro you are using, I use debian and jost typed
apt-get install centericq.

try centericq.
it supports icq aim yahoo and msn protocols.
the interface is kludgey at best but once you get around that it's
easy enough to handle.
