I already know what went wrong.  They login process is 
rejecting my password as invalid.  They want me to pay $9.95 / month
now after which, I assume they will re-validate my password.

While this is certainly well within their rights, it is just as well
within mine to decline. At least until they change their name to 
payatlast.com or something equally as appropriate.

If I pay for anything it will be cable or DSL, not a 41 K effective
dialup connection.  Meanwhile I may as well investigate free access
if there is any still available.
