Hi, Jude,

Whoa! Remember, I am a *real* newbie! This was a good day, so, with only
a
little help from my friends, I got FTP to work, and retrieved the file!

Thank you for the step by step message on how to proceed, but I need to
ask
some questions before I get in trouble, which is easy for me to do. I can
crash Linux, and I have even managed to get it to apparently corrupt my
password file so I cannot get into linux again.

First, I had better explain about my PC. I use an extended partition with
multiple logical drives. When you say the root directory, you must mean
drive C, as your later directions show it. Will this be a problem that I
have
drives D-K defined? Drive D is actually a partition on a separate
physical
 drive.

What will happen to DOS, and all the other things on C:??
I have a 255 meg partition for the C drive. There is more than 220 mb
available. Is this enough?

The D: drive has 2GB on it, and less than 300 mb is being used for
utilities
and such.

The command:

 PKUNZIP -DO zipspeak.zip

is a command, I take it. When you
write for nuewbies using speech, remember to put commands on a line by
themselves. I know PKZIP, and many of its parameters, but this in a
sentence
almost slipped by me. The synthesizer read it as "DO".

I caught it because you write well, and I have read enough of your
messages
over several years to know it was not a typo. I looked more carefully,
and
recalled the parameter.

I run a Lite Talk as you do. I will need those same files. Where is
Matt's
site? In what directory should I look?

My FTP is primitive. It will only accept the hostname, and port on an
open
command. I have to login, and then do a cd, to the right directory. This
is
not NCFTP!

When I do manage to get this put together, . . .
What exactly will happen?--or should I say "should happen"?? --when this
thing boots up?

I think I should take a little time to do this, and back up my files
first.
Mr. Murphy and I are on great terms. He visits me daily. He is a great
magician. He has been known to turn innocent software into digital snakes
in
my machine that have a nasty "byte"!
