fetchmail attempts to run in the foreground unless you specifically tell it
to run in teh background as a daemon.
two ways to do it.
from the command line you use the -d switch with a time interval in seconds
like:
fetchmail -d 300
it will then poll the hosts in your .fetchmailrc file at that interval and
fetch the mail and store it in the default mailbox.
or you can put the command in your .fetchmailrc file like this
set daemon 300
this does the same thing except you wont have to type anything but fetchmail
to get the daemon started.
this assumes that your .fetchmailrc is setup right to poll a specific host
and give the proper password and such to retrieve the mail.
