Linux and OCR

Linux and OCR

Hi all.

I'm I seem to recall somebody asking this in the past, but can't remember 
what the answer was. What's the situation withOCR software that runs 
under Linux. I seem to recall there is some form of it available, but it 
isn't terribly accurate yet. Could somebody enlighten me please?

Hello Ben,

I am looking for OCR for Linux too. I've tried xocr several times,
but got no usefull text out of it.
There is a commercial one for X at www.vividata.com and they mailed
me last that soon they have a command-line version. I have no idea
what the price will be.
If someone knows a freeware one, please let us know.
