This may be of interest to some. I have not even looked at it so have
no idea of its worth or accessibility.

Apparently there are charging now.
Personally I think they should change their domain to
'freeat first.com' but that's another matter.
Has anyone managed to get Juno.com, Bluelight.com or any other free ISP
provider to work with their Linux ppp daemon? If so could you post the
details here?
Thanks.

have a good look in the following logsifles: /var/log/messages
/var/log/kernel.log /var/log/syslog and maybe /var/log/debug
these files contain info about the sessions you made and what went wrong as
well.
It could probably be that they are using the chap-autentication instead of
the pap-autenticaion protocol which normal isp's often do.

I already know what went wrong. They login process is
rejecting my password as invalid. They want me to pay $9.95 / month
now after which, I assume they will re-validate my password.
While this is certainly well within their rights, it is just as well
within mine to decline. At least until they change their name to
payatlast.com or something equally as appropriate.
If I pay for anything it will be cable or DSL, not a 41 K effective
dialup connection. Meanwhile I may as well investigate free access
if there is any still available.

I know netzero will work if you use your password in encrypted form, how
odd. I guess at their password prompt you would type your encrypted
password, username would be user@netzero.net, the whole thing, whether it
gets even more difficult I'm unsure, found it by accident once.
