Hi.
I have been playing with a borrowed Elba for the past week or so.
It has a few bugs and some things are missing, but
I am impressed with enough, to put in a
purchase for one along with a 5 gb hard drive for it.

I think it has a lot of potential.

phil

I don't know the version number, but it is the one
that is on the sighted web site,
dated in august thisyear.

it's an excellent choice for what you need either as a braille display
or a stand alone. it is much more than a note taker.

Hi Phil,

do you use the elba as a notetaker or could it possible be a replacement
for a pc+windows+some-screen-reading-stuff+braille_display. The things
I need are mainly word processing, e-mail and web browsing.

I am not really using the elba yet, just playing with a
borrowed unit.
My unit is hopefully on its way.

I believe you can use it as a note taker, or as a braille display
for jaws or other screen reader under windows.

It seems to have many features geared for the latter use.

Using the braille keyboard, you can send almost any key combination
including alt, ctrl, shift, insert or any
comvination. it can also send function keys and their
alt, ctrl and shift equivalences.

I have not tried it as a braille display yet.
maybe this weekend, before I have to return it.
