hmm, it's closed source and you'll never know if there's spyware in it
(like in kazaa, this man's previous project).
It probably ain't accessibible anyway.
Soem tests here between skype and FreeWorldDialup showed that FWD is
better.
This was a test we did between 2 windows-boxes both behind a NAT-firewall.

as long as qt-apps aren't accessible in general, don't expact the
skype-people to care about it.

If you read my last post, I stated quite clearly that it's not
accessable at all.
skype uses the qt widgets which kde use so you can forget using it with
gnopernicus.

it seams that asterisk is working at last.
I've got it working through the www.iaxtel.com service.
Don't know if FWD connectiavty works as well.
I tried that through the pstn-number in hte Ntherlands linking to FWD, but
I get a busy-signal and no ouput on the asterisk-console.
have a look at www.iaxtel.com to see how to config for their service.
If someone wants the extent.conf (dialplan) liens, let me know.

Will Asterisk work with a soundcard and speakers/microphone, or does it need an IP phone of some sort?

sure, I'll drop the info tomorrow morning.
note that a direct SIP-connection seams not to be working behind a
NAT-firewall.
At least, I didn't get it working.
I'll mail the context for extentions.conf sip.conf and iax.conf (for
www.iaxtel.com iax/fwd bridging).
