Hi guys,
I am just about to install Linux (the fedora modified distribution), but which CD should I boot from?
The one I made from boot.iso? Or the fc3-i386-disk#.iso one (disk 1 obviously)?
Cheers,
Chris Norman.

Either one.
The first cdr, the one made from FC3-i386-disc1.iso, only sources that
image anyway.
So, you actually boot the same image either way.

I just tried that, and it wouldn't boot. I spoke to a friend, and he said
I'd probably burned the CD wrong. How do I burn the CD using windows so
it'll boot?
I've set my bios up right, because it said "reading pool data from disk" or
something, but then booted into windows.
Cheers,
Chris Norman.

I'm sorry. I don't know anything about burning from Windows any longer.
There is some advice in the INstallation HOWTO which was developed via
this list. I suggest you follow that.

I posted this to the NFBCS list a few months ago:

I found a nice accessible utility for burning ISOs in Windows. I guess you
can copy files to a CD in Windows XP by merely dragging them to the drive.
But burning ISOs is a problem. However, I found a utility that does what
Windows probably should do: if you right click on a ISO file one of the
menu selections is to burn a CD. Very nice. And the dialog box that appears
when you click that option works with JFW.
Only problem... the utility is still in beta. Seems to work though. oh,
and the web site is kind of disorganized. I'll provide a download page and
a documentation page...
Download: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
Documentation: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/HowTo.htm
PS: I have absolutely no connection with the developer of this tool.

Can I use the Record CD (command line tool) which is linked on the page?
I like the look of that. It says it records data CDS, to be fair, I never
use hardware much past my hard disk and a pair of speakers, so I wouldn't
know if data CDs were bootable or not.
Can you help please?
Cheers,
Chris Norman.

Dude, I hate to say this but I think it's about time you rtfm. In saying
that, I am helping. You're never going to get anywhere with linux if you
don't start figuring things out for yourself.
If you don't know what rtfm means, you can look that up too.

I know what RTFM means, and I just tried it. But to be honest, when in an
opperating system (windows granted), I have found in the past that figuring
out things for myself cost me three computers. That's why I tend to ask now,
just to be on the safe side.
Cheers,
Chris Norman.
